‘Clean India’ Mission:
• With an aim to improve solid waste management in the country and create a situation where there are no open latrines, the Central Government launched the ‘Clean India’ campaign on Gandhi Jayanti October 2, 2014.
• A program marking 10 years of this movement was held at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.
• In this, Prime Minister Modi launched various projects including sewage and drinking water treatment plants worth Rs.10 crore
• More than 12 crore toilets have been built under the Swachh India campaign.
• An international study says that the movement saves the lives of 60,000 to 70,000 children in India every year.
‘Made in India’ label on Indian products:
• The central government is considering launching a ‘Made in India’ stamp scheme to popularize products made in India globally.
• Make in India was launched on September 25, 2014 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
• Make in India is a flagship national program launched by the Government of India to promote investment, foster innovation, promote skill development, protect intellectual property rights and create a world-class manufacturing infrastructure in India.
• An open invitation to investors and collaborators from around the world to participate in the growth path of ‘New India’.
• The program has made significant achievements in 27 sectors. It includes manufacturing and service sectors.
• The National Single Window System (NSWS) was launched in September 2021 to improve ease of doing business by providing a single digital platform for approvals and clearances to investors.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Scheme:
• The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a housing scheme for the poor, was launched on 25 June 2015 with the aim of providing housing to every poor person in the country.
• Under this scheme, subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries for construction of houses.
• More than 3.04 crore sturdy houses have been constructed in rural areas so far in the last 9 years.
• Under this scheme, the first installment is Rs 50 thousand, the second installment is Rs 1.5 lakh and the last i.e. the third installment is Rs 50 thousand.
• Some states in India have made maximum use of this scheme.
• These include Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
G7 countries:
• The G7 is an organization of seven countries with developed economies that are considered advanced countries.
• It includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain and the United States.
• In 1975, six countries met to exchange their ideas in an effort to find solutions to the global economic crisis.
• Canada became a member of the organization the following year.
• A member in 1998, Russia was expelled as it annexed Crimea, which was part of Ukraine, in 2014, and the G8 has since reverted to the G7.
• The 50th G7 Summit 2024 was held from 13 to 15 June in Fasano, Apulia, Italy.
