‘Malabar’ Naval Exercise: 2024
- The naval exercise ‘Malabar’ in which 4 countries will participate will begin on October 8 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
- 4 countries including India, USA, Australia and Japan are participating in this exercise aimed at improving maritime security.
- Malabar exercise was started in 1992 between India and USA.
- Later, this exercise is conducted in collaboration with Australia and Japan to ensure regional security in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific Ocean.
Air Defence Missile Test in Pokhran:
- The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully completed the 4th generation technology short-range missile test at the Pokhran range in Rajasthan, according to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
- The Defence Research and Development Organization has conducted the test of the technologically advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS).
- This missile called VSHORADS is a man-portable air defence system.
- It was designed and developed in-house with the Building Research Center (RCI) in collaboration with DRDO.
- All the three arms of the army were involved in the project from its inception.
First hydrogen train test:
- A hydrogen train ready for clean hydrogen fuel cell technology, which does not harm the environment, is scheduled to run a test run in December.
- After Germany, France, Sweden and China, India becomes the fifth country to operate trains powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology.
- This is a pilot project for retrofitting hydrogen fuel cell in existing diesel electric multiple unit trains.
- It has decided to run this hydrogen fueled train on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana under the Northern Railway Zone.
KAZIND – 2024: Joint Military Exercise:
- The 8th edition of India-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise KAZIND – 2024 will begin in Uttarakhand and take place from September 30 to October 13, 2024.
- India-Kazakhstan training started in 2016 under the name ‘PRABAL DOSTYK’.
- Joint exercise KAZIND has been conducted annually since 2016.
- The 120-strong Indian Armed Forces are represented by a battalion of the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army and personnel from other arms and services and the Indian Air Force.
