Indus Waters Treaty:

India and Pakistan signed the Indus Waters Treaty on September 19, 1960.

Since then, the two countries have been at loggerheads over the implementation of the Kisanganga and Ratle Neemin projects.

In this context, India has been insisting on resolving the issue in accordance with the advice of the expert appointed by the World Bank in accordance with the Indus Waters Treaty.

However, Pakistan is trying to resolve the issue through the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.

The World Bank-appointed expert on the issue, Michael Lino (head of the International Commission on Large Dams), said the two hydropower projects would be a win-win solution for both countries.
