Financial Resources Index of NITI Aayog:

  • Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Jharkhand have topped the list of mineral-rich states, according to the NITI Aayog’s’ Financial Resources Index ‘.
  • NITI Aayog has released the first-ever Financial Resources Index (FHI 2025) based on the contribution of states to India’s GDP, population, total public expenditure, revenue, and overall fiscal sustainability.
  • Odisha tops the list with 67.8 points.
  • Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have been listed under the priority states category.
  • States including Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Rajasthan and Haryana have been listed under the category of contributors.
  • Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala, which are facing the brunt of fiscal deficit and debt volatility, have been listed under the worst category.

The Yamuna water dispute:

  • The Namami Gange programme has the twin objectives of effective abatement, conservation and rejuvenation of pollution of the national river Ganga for the cleanliness of the Yamuna.
  • The Namami Gange programme is an integrated conservation project.
  • It was approved as a ‘flagship scheme’ by the central government in June 2014.
  • This will help in meeting the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, national security and rejuvenation. Rs 20,000 crore has been allocated for this.
  • The Yamuna River is one of the major rivers in North India.
  • The Yamuna River originates in the Himalayas in Uttaranchal and flows through Delhi and Haryana before joining the Ganges at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
  • It runs 1370 km from Yamunotri to Allahabad.
  • The cities of Delhi, Mathura and Agra are situated on the banks of the river Yamuna.
  • Taj Mahal is one of the world’s most famous monuments located on the banks of the Yamuna.
  • Yamuna is sometimes called Jamuna or Jamuna. It is a long river.
  • It is the second tributary of the river Ganga.
  • The river originates from the snow-capped mountain Yamunotri.
  • The river originates at an elevation of 6387 m from the  Bundharpunch peak in the south-west of the lower Himachal hills in the state of Uttarakhand in India.

  • Sanjay – Battlefield Monitoring System:
  • Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh flagged off ‘Sanjay – Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS)’ on 24 Jan 2025 at South Block, New Delhi.
  • The system is an automated system.
  • It receives and integrates inputs from all ground and airborne battlefield sensors. processes them to ensure their authenticity.
  • It combines them to create a common surveillance picture of the battlefield through secure military data architecture and satellite communication infrastructure.
  • It will enhance battlefield transparency and enable future battlefield operations through a centralized web application.
  • The PSS system is designed with state-of-the-art sensors and sophisticated analytics.
  • It monitors wide land borders, intercepts intrusions and assesses situations with high accuracy.

January 25 is National Voters’ Day.

  • National Voters’ Day is celebrated annually in India on January 25, the foundation day of the Election Commission of India.
  • It was established by the Indian government to encourage more young voters to participate in the political process.
