‘Financial Assistance to Maldives’: India
- President Mohammad Muizzu thanked India for providing financial assistance to Maldives.
- Mohammad Muizzu, who is on an official visit to India, thanked the government for extending the loan repayment period of Rs 400 crore by one more year and disbursing Rs 40 crore under the USD/Euro swap mechanism and Rs 3,000 crore under the Indian Rupee swap mechanism as per the bilateral currency swap agreement.
- 700 houses constructed under Export-Import Bank of India loan facility were handed over to Maldives.
- A ‘Rupay’ card-to-door transaction service was launched in the Maldives and a new airstrip built with India’s help at Hanimaadhoo Airport.
- Apart from this, 5 MoUs were signed including MoU for cooperation between National Defence University of India, Maldives Police and Law Enforcement College.
