11th World Tamils Economic Conference:

  • The economic conference to be held in Kuala Lumpur from November 15 to 17 will promote the entrepreneurship and economy of the world’s Tamils, said by conference organizer V.R.S Sampath.
  • The conference will be inaugurated by Minister Duraimurugan on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government and will deliver a keynote address.
  • Indian Ambassador to Malaysia B.N. Reddy presides over.
  • Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker Appavu will deliver the concluding speech of the conference.
  • This conference is held with the aim of improving the business skills and economy of Tamils.
  • 11th World Tamils Economic Conference is held in Kuala Lumpur.
  • The World Tamils Economic Conference was held for the first time in Chennai (2009).

Test of long-range surface-to-surface missile:

  • The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully conducted the first test of a long-range surface-to-surface missile.
  • Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that it will serve as a model for domestically produced missile programs in the future.
  • The first test was conducted at the Integrated Test Site at Chandipur, Odisha.
  • LRLACM has been developed by the Bangalore-based Aerospace Development Corporation, DRDO’s laboratories and other Indian industries.
  • Both Bharat Dynamics in Hyderabad and Bharat Electronics in Bengaluru have played a major role in the development and production of the missile.
  • The missile program has been approved by the Defence Procurement Council.
  • It is designed to operate not only from land but also from ships.

First All Women CISF Battalion:

  • The central government has given permission to set up the country’s first all-women Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit with over a thousand constables.
  • In this, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given permission to set up the country’s first all-women force unit comprising 1,025 women constables under the leadership of a senior command.
  • CISF currently has 12 reserve battalions.
  • In which men and women (7%) work together, the first all-women brigade is being formed.

Integrated Water Resources Management Authority:

  • The draft bill proposing to set up an Integrated Water Resources Management Authority at the state level has been sent to all the states for consideration.
  • 10th Water Innovation Conference organized by CII Water Institute, started in Delhi.
  • In order to achieve water security under the vision of a developed India, the central government is planning to set up an integrated water resources management authority at the state level.
  • It is the responsibility of the commission to formulate plans for water conservation, groundwater management, flood basin management from villages to cities and coordinate various water related departments-agencies.
  • At the state level, the Commission will function under a committee headed by the Chief Minister.

  • World Compassion Day is observed on 13th November every year.
