Winter Session of Parliament:

  • The Winter Session of Parliament will continue till December 20. A special session of both the Houses will be held to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the country’s Constitution by the Politburo.
  • The session of Parliament in India is convened by the government.
  • Parliament meets for three sessions in a year. The President convenes each House of Parliament from time to time.
  • The gap between two sessions of Parliament should not exceed 6 months, which means that Parliament meets at least twice in a year.
  • Winter Session: The Winter Session of Parliament is held every year from mid-November to mid-December.
  • The Winter Session is the shortest of all the sessions.
  • It takes up matters that could not be considered earlier and makes up for the absence of legislative proceedings during the second session of Parliament.

Reservation for Persons with Disabilities:

  • The government has issued these guidelines to ensure that the reservation process for persons with disabilities is followed uniformly across the country.
  • These guidelines, issued under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, require government jobs to be identified for persons with disabilities who have 40 percent disability to be properly followed.
  • It is mandatory to follow 4 percent reservation in direct appointments and promotions for categories like blind, hearing impaired, intellectually disabled.

Indian, Italian Sail Ship Joint Exercise:

  • The Indian Navy’s naval training ship INS Tarangini participated in a joint naval exercise with the Italian naval ship Amerigo Vespucci off the coast of Kochi.
  • The exercise, held off the coast of Kochi in Kerala, showcases the Indian Navy’s commitment to promoting global maritime traditions and international friendship.
  • During the exercise, the two ships conducted various naval exercises together, strengthening their cooperation.
  • INS Tarangini plays a key role in the Indian Navy’s naval exercise.

29th UN Climate Change Conference:

  • The 29th UN Climate Change Conference is underway in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
  • The UN has said that the global South is suffering from the arbitrary decisions taken by developed countries to combat climate change. India expressed concern at the climate conference.
  • India also urged that economically powerful countries should lead by example in reducing carbon emissions.
  • To increase climate action in the South, these countries should be provided with free technology and adequate financial support.
  • The European Union’s decision to impose an import tax (carbon tax) on products with high carbon emissions during production is imposing the cost of climate action on poor countries.
  • The arbitrary decisions of developed countries are hampering climate action in the South.
  • The global carbon fund to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius is set to run out by 2030.
  • Despite contributing less to global carbon emissions, the South is facing the impact of the financial burden of climate action and the damage and loss caused by climate change.

DGPs Conference in Bhubaneswar:

  • The All India Director Generals of Police and Chiefs Conference will be held in Bhubaneswar from 29th November to 1st
  • Organized by the Central Intelligence Agency, this conference will discuss internal security, cybercrime threats, terrorism and police modernization.
  • This is the first time such a conference is being held in Bhubaneswar.
  • All India Police Conferences are held two to three times a year in different states of the country.
  • The annual conference on behalf of the Intelligence Agency is being held in Odisha this year.
  • A detailed video demonstration on online frauds targeting people in India from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia will be shown at the conference by the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Centre.

 

SpaceX successfully launched ISRO’s GSAT-N2 communication satellite:

  • ‘GSAT-N2’, ISRO’s 4,700 kg telecommunications satellite, was launched from the US by businessman Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
  • New Space India Limited (NSIL), a subsidiary of ISRO, said that SpaceX launched the satellite from Cape Canaveral in the US.
  • The 4,700 kg satellite was successfully placed in its orbit.
  • The GSAT-N2 ‘KA’ high-bandwidth satellite, which shares a lot of data, also helps in improving telecommunications services and air services outside the Indian region.

National Legal Services Authority (NALSA):

  • The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was established in 1987 under the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 to provide free legal services to the weaker sections of the society and to conduct Lok Adalats for amicable resolution of disputes.
  • Article 39A of the Constitution of India provides free legal aid to the poor and weaker sections of the society and ensures justice to all.
  • Articles 14 and 22(1) of the Constitution make it mandatory for the State to ensure equality before the law and a legal system that promotes justice on the basis of equal opportunity for all.
  • The Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 was enacted by the Parliament on 9 November 1995.
  • It was created to provide free and efficient legal services to the weaker sections of the society on the basis of equal opportunity.
  • In every State, a State Legal Services Authority and in every High Court, a High Court Legal Services Committee have been set up.
  • The Supreme Court Legal Services Committee has been constituted to manage and implement the Legal Services Scheme in the case of the Supreme Court of India.
