6 crore people above the age of 70 years to be covered under Ayushman Bharat

  • Union Health Minister J P Nadda said 6 crore people above the age of 70 have been covered under the Ayushman Bharat free health insurance scheme so far.
  • For poor families, Rs. The Ayushman Bharat scheme was launched in 2018 to provide free medical insurance up to Rs 5 lakh. Under this scheme, free medical insurance will be provided to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
  • The scheme to provide free medical insurance to all above 70 years of age was launched in October last year.
  • The Health Summit 2025 was held at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
  • The number of new cases of TB in India has declined by 17.7 per cent in 2023 as compared to 2015.

January 19 is Kokborok Day.

  • On 19 January, the Indian state of Tripura observes Kokborok Day, also known as Tripuri Language Day, to promote the Kokborok language. The day was officially recognized by Kokborok for the first time in 1979.
  • On 21 January 1972, the states of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya became full-fledged states under the North Eastern Region Act of 1971.
  • Therefore, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya celebrate their Statehood Day on January 21.
