Guinness record for reading 1500 Damru Vadak at Ujjain temple:

  • More than 1,500 people recited damru in the famous Ujjain temple complex in Madhya Pradesh and set a Guinness World Record.
  • Ujjain, Sri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee and Central Department of Culture jointly organized the Programme.
  • The record set in 2022 has now been broken by the 488-member Damru reading group of the Federation of Indian Societies in New York, USA.
  • Subsequently, the Ujjain group was honored with a Guinness World Record certificate.
  • Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

NPA on MUDRA scheme loan down to 3.4%:

  • Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that loan defaults under the MUDRA scheme have come down to 3.4 per cent.
  • The Prime Minister’s Mudra scheme was launched in 2015.
  • The objective of this scheme is to provide loans to small and medium traders to help them develop their business.
  • Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) is a scheme launched by the Government of India on 8 April 2015 to provide loans up to Rs 10 lakh to micro/micro enterprises.
  • Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana Scheme (PMMY) was developed by the Government of India for the development of Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
  • It is implemented through the Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA).

Special status for Jammu and Kashmir: Abolition of Article 370

  • Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and Article 35 (A), which gave special rights and privileges to the permanent citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, were repealed by the Central Government through an Act of Parliament on August 5, 2019.
  • August 5 marks the fifth anniversary of the repeal of Article 370.
  • Jammu and Kashmir, which was a state, was divided into two Union Territories (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh).
  • Articles 370 and 35(A) of the Constitution were repealed.

Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme:

  • Minister of People’s Welfare M. Subramanian said that 1.86 crore people have benefited under the People Seeking Medicine Program in Tamil Nadu.
  • K.Stalin started this project after taking charge, he started this project ‘Medicine in search of people’ on August 5, 2021 in a village called Chennapalli in Shoolagiri Panchayat Union of Krishnagiri District.
  • This scheme is to go to the homes of people suffering from infectious diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure and provide medicines and pills every month.
  • It has been operating continuously in Tamil Nadu for more than two years.

August 6: Hiroshima Day

  • The United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 to end World War II.
  • Hiroshima Day is also observed as Day Against Nuclear Weapons and is also known as Bomb Day.

Important Facts:

  1. President Droupadi Murmu has visited Fiji on an official visit, the first time an Indian President has visited Fiji and Timor-Leste.
  2. A resolution was passed in the state assembly opposing any attempt to divide West Bengal.
  3. During the opening ceremony of the Olympics, table tennis player Sharath Kamal and badminton player PV Sindhu carried the national flag.
  4. Shooter Manu Bhaker has been roped in to lead the Indian national flag during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
  5. A repechage circuit has been introduced for races from 200m to 1,500m at the Paris Olympics.
  6. USA’s Noah Lyles won gold, Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson won silver, and America’s Fred Kerley won bronze in the men’s 100m race at the Paris Olympics.
