65 lakh property cards issued under SVAMITVA scheme

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute 65 lakh property cards under the SVAMITVA scheme.
  • Under the SVAMITVA scheme implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, land in rural areas is being enumerated through unmanned aerial vehicles and its owners are being issued property cards legally.
  • Under this scheme, a target has been set to prepare land mapping of 3.44 lakh villages across the country by conducting aerial survey.
  • So far, 3.17 lakh villages have been covered and 90% of the target has been achieved.
  • This goal is expected to be achieved by 2026.
  • 31 States and Union Territories have joined the scheme. Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Telangana participated only in the pilot phase of the programme.
  • West Bengal, Bihar, Nagaland and Meghalaya are not included.

Ayushman Bharat:

  • Ayushman Bharat Yojana is an initiative of the Government of India to help the weaker sections with medical aids and facilities.
  • The paperless scheme provides cashless medical insurance up to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh.
  • Every year, 30th April is observed as Ayushman Bharat Diwas.
  • Ayushman Bharat, or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, is a government initiative to provide medical assistance to the reserved categories.
  • It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. This flagship National Health Protection Scheme is funded by GOI.
  • The Senior Citizens Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) serve poor and rural destitute families.
  • The scheme, which will provide coverage to nearly 50 crore Indians, aims to make secondary and tertiary healthcare completely cashless for the underprivileged sections.
  • PMJAY is also known as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
  • It is one of the largest health paperless plans that offers cashless medical coverage.
  • Funded by the Government of India, the initiative provides financial assistance to underprivileged families, irrespective of family size, gender or age-related limitations, in public hospitals and networked private hospitals.

Khel Ratna award for chess player Gukesh

  • The President of India, Shri Droupadi Murmu presented the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour of the country, to Shri T. Gukesh, who represented Tamil Nadu in the World Chess Championship held in Singapore.
  • Tamil Nadu para shuttlers Thulasimathi Murugesan, Nithyasree Sumathi Sivan and Manisha Ramadoss have also been selected for the Arjuna Award.
  • Hockey captain Harmanpreet Kaur, para-athlete Praveen Kumar and shooter Manu Bhaker also received the Khel Ratna from the President.
  • The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports confers the National Sports Awards annually on sportspersons who have made India proud at the international level.
