ISRO’s 100th rocket launched
- ISRO’s 100th mission’s transport and safety guidance satellite GSLV-F15 lifted off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
- ISRO plans to develop an Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) for land, sea and air transportation and defence applications in India.
- The satellite weighs 2,250 kg. It has a life of 10 years. These include L1, L5, and S band transponders, indigenous atomic clock and various other advanced technological devices.
- So far, 548 satellites have been launched by ISRO’s 100th rocket.

Middle East countries with trade gateways:
- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the Middle East is the gateway to the world’s strongest trade and transport links.
- The ‘Raisina Middle East’, a geopolitical and geo-security conference with Middle East countries, was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
- The Gulf is the gateway to the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean region.
- Only Rs. 13 lakh crore to Rs. India has a trade surplus of Rs 15 lakh crore.
Village Entrepreneurship Programme:
- The Tamil Nadu government has released Rs. 4.16 crore from the State Equity Fund for the implementation of the Village Entrepreneurship Programme.
- The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing a special scheme to encourage entrepreneurship at the village level.
- The scheme is 60 per cent funded by the central government and 40 per cent by state governments.
- The scheme is being implemented under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
- The objective of the scheme is to incentivize various stakeholders, including youth, to start small scale industries in rural areas.
Chief Minister’s’ Protecting Hands’ Scheme:
- The Chief Minister’s new scheme ‘Protecting Hands’ has been introduced to make ex-servicemen and their dependents entrepreneurs.
- Under the scheme, loans up to Rs 1 crore will be provided by banks to ex-servicemen to start businesses and 30 per cent of the loan amount will be given as capital subsidy and 3 per cent interest subsidy to start businesses under this scheme.
- Necessary training such as skill and entrepreneurship development training will also be provided by the government.
- Ex-servicemen above 55 years of age, widows of soldiers who died in the line of duty, unmarried daughters of ex-servicemen and widows of ex-servicemen are eligible for the scheme.
